In this episode of the Longines Chronoscope, University of Maryland President Dr. H.C. Byrd talks about his school’s probation by the Southern Athletic Conference, the influence of football on universities, and televising football games. Huey tries to get Byrd to admit that he is willing for football to make more and more money for universities, even at the possible expense of academics and honesty, but Byrd can’t be cornered into it. He does admit that he will gladly make $125,000 off of his team playing in the Sugar Bowl, and states that he believes that football is not responsible for the recent scandals involving football players, including the “West Point Fix,” where students cheated on exams. He ended the interview by speaking briefly on the state of athletic scholarships, saying that they were often too liberal or disguised dishonestly by schools. I am currently enrolled in my community college and graduated high school with a 3.7 GPA and in the National Honor Society. I have a 4.0 GPA in college and I am going to be licsensed as a massage therapist in October. I am going to sign up for the Alpha Phi Theta honor society for 2 year colleges in the fall.
I am looking to attend: Pepperdine University (CA), Stanford (CA), or UCLA. I am a business administration major working on my honors associates (which I will complete this upcoming spring). I am looking at becoming a Finance or Market BA major, and then going to grad school.
Now that you have some background, where do you suggest I find scholarships. I am currently exploiting: Fastweb.com, my current college, and looking for scholarship offerings from the schools of my choice.
Any suggestions?
scholarship.com. also has some. you can try collegeboard.com and click on finical aid.

reputation? I want to get a masters degree eventually. I'm a broke type of guy so cost is a factor, but I understand sometimes the expensive colleges have great scholarship opportunities. I think the ideal situation would be to fulfill half of my undergraduate work at a community college there, but it all depends on my options.
Why do you want all this academic experience? I would say there are no community colleges that are good for theatre in Colorado any longer. There would be a huge debate over which college is best, I would say it would be between UCCS and UNC. Let me know your goals, I am a retired professor from a Colorado University and a retired actor as well.
